Recently there was a few posts that came up in the new products forum about some items that were very similar in design, this was posted in the wrong forums so that it doesnt do many any good. Now the original post had this to say. From: someone I looked at your ad and one outfit stood out BIG TIME its SOOOO much like one that I know has been out for like over 8 months and was did by TEO/insatiables, infact that same outfit was posted many days prior to your release. See link below /invalid_link.htmlFine, the neck is slightly different but over all main design concept is exact. I'm not saying it was intentional but just trying to point out something. And another post said about several items that had been "stolen" from other designers. Which of course unless they are original designs wouldnt be the case. Now a response to all this was that it happens when people use Photosourcing. A Technique described as taking a picture with said item and pasting it to the template and then editting it to fit. Well to Show those who may be new to design im posting a few of my outfits ones that have been photosourced and others that have been what i call photoreferenced. Which most clothiers in SL use. Taking a RL design and making it in SL. The First 2 Pictures are the item in question and if you look close if it was a photo there wouldnt be so many drawn parts and alot more pixelation which usually happens from photos. The 3rd and 4th pic you can see that they have been photosourced by the obvious picture style quality. Hope this clears up some misunderstandings.

Yep, this happens often. If you photosource clothing (like I do, mostly) then there's never any justification for crying foul when someone else does a recreation of the same clothing design. It's happened to me on several occassions but the other designers and I have always just gotten a laugh out of it and had fun comparing seams and such. Now when someone does a completely original design by painting from scratch, or by mixing up elements from several real world designs, and then someone else does a duplicate of it, that's another story entirely and the original designer has every right to be upset about it.

Wow...heh, this is why I do most of my stuff from scratch. :3 (Photoreferencing is fun, too!)

there is a variance to the shades of black in the first two pictures...between the cloth and the laces...and the laces are pixelated, leading me to believe that the outfit is, in fact, photosourced and then colored over in places. Not ALL photosourced items get pixelated, it all depends on the quality of the original photo. Now here's an interesting outfit... looky here Remind you of anything you've seen inworld? Real life inspires the creativity in SL... As long as real life inspires us and the population in sl continues to grow, we'll see more and more of the same or similar outfits coming out. Because many newbies come in looking for how to make the big lindens and don't shop around to see what's out there before they start creating their own stuff.

Yes indeed there are 2 shades trying to add some depth to the product...the final product is darker. And close up pics of most things in SL are pixelated. I have just painted the same style item in about 1 min. And taken some pics to show And i have never seen that outfit in SL. But everyone is entitled to an opinion. The main point of this topic is to show Photosourcing and examples of such. Please remain constuctive and try not to accuse others.

It's not the same, the lines aren't as "crisp" as your the first set. I see pixelation, but my opinion isn't changed. Who's accusing and being non-constructive? I don't see that anywhere in the thread.

If 2 people take a photo of London Bridge standing in the same spot , same time of day the photos are exact ( give or take) yet each person is the creator of their own 'photo' and have copyrights to them even tho theyre exactly the same image.
Going back to the original copied & pasted complaint both designers are well withing their rights to claim creator and ownership rights.
Not sure if this is even related to later replies but its something I read about copyright laws recently and made me see things in a simpler manner.
