Hi everyone. I am starting to create a bunch new textures (from building - clothing - skins) And a couple outfits i have arent done just YET.. but when i get them presentable i would like some opinions to see if my things are up to par (so to speak) I originally thought i would post in the Texturing tips topic, But ive seen some people say that its not the place (Because some may try to advertise in these area's) So i was wondering (for future reference) what the best place to post shots and ask for opinions would be?

Possibly " New Products " .. failing that " Resident Answers " is sure to get some feedback.

Don't think New Products would be much use as it's no-reply, isn't it?

I've been posting my "feedback" type posts in the gallery forum, but I agree resident answers is not a bad choice either. In the end, I don't even mind genuine feedback type posts showing up here either. I try to think in my head, am I really asking a question that has do to with texturing or am I really advertising. If it's advertising, then I go elsewhere. New products is probably a bad choice since that's where finished goods that someone can actually purchase go. Some other tips. I've found it help to have a blog setup on blogspot (or pick your other poison). That way, I can redirect with a lightweight poster here and those who aren't interested are not subjected to whatever "advertising" I might be doing on purpose or inadvertantly. Another thing... If you're going to ask for input, try to take quality high-rez images (2048x2048 is nice). Pose the model and lighting in such a way that details can really be seen. In other words, take a look at the final picture and ask yourself, "Could I constructively provide feedback given the clarity of this picture?" Are the seems visible? Is the detailed texture visible? etc? I'm much more inclined to actually provide detailed critique if the poster gave me enough to really do that with. Otherwise, I pass feedback requests by. Overall, I think it's a fine line and I appreciate your concern about not turning this into an advertising forum spammed with new product offerings. That being said, let's not get a forum nazi mentality either.

If you're creating a new product and want feedback to make improvements before you finalize it, post it in the Gallery section for people to hand out comments and feedback. If you're asking for advice on the how to's of texturing, stay right here. If you're announcing a finished new product, New Products is the place to be.
