Hello , ive heard a lot of talk on SL about the use of the Poser software to create things like hair , I was wondering if anyone knew of other uses for Poser for creating stuff , whether its a good option and some advice/links to posts or tutorials that discuss the use of Poser for SL creation.
Thanks a lot everyone :)

Hi Amber. Poser software is for creating animations. You don't need any software to create objects such as prim hair, although it helps to have something like Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro to create textures. Read through the stickies in the content creation forums for more explanations.

I use Poser, (Or rather, DAZ|Studio, which is a free competitor to Poser) to make 3D building textures. Stuff with realistic shadows and lighting effects baked into the texture. I suppose it could be used to get certain 3D textre effects for hair, such as glossy highlights.

Poser and similar products can allow you to set up multiple light sources, glossy ane actually refoective surfaces, and other difficult or impossible effects to achieve in SL.

Both Poser and Daz|Stidio can be used to make .BVH files for animations to import into SL.

Both products can also be usesd, to a degree, to preview textures to be used on SL clothes, for seam matching.
