For those of us on the cheap, is there a way to preview textures without comitting the L10?
Thanks,
Louis

Yes, login into the preview grid (hah!), where the uploads don't cost you 'real' lindens...
... although based on your account creation date, you might be not able to log in into preview yet, they snapshot the user database every few weeks. http://secondlife.com/community/preview.php _____________________

You may also be able to use a 3D modelling tool like Blender, though how close that REALLY matches the SL appearance can vary a lot.

Or you can preview the seams on the .obj model the Lindens provide in DAZ Studio, or Bryce 5 (unless you happen to be on a Mac using Tiger.) Both of them are free downloads.

Lastly, obvious errors are easily detected in the preview before paying screen. Not everyone is aware that you can use the ALT, CRTL & Shift keys, along with the mouse to move the viewing angle of the preview model.
Just like the camera in-world, ALT will allow you to zoom in and out and sideways. ALT-CRTL allows you to move in a sphere around the model. ALT-SHIFT-CRTL will allow you to move up and down, without rotating around the model. By zooming in, you can see a lot of details. Just be aware, that the stretching of your particular avatar will be different from the basic models. So, it won’t be exactly like the model. Jen |
