There are some designers that offer this service if you are stuck on ideas. SL Exchange has some people in the "services" section.
If your question is more about the steps involved, then reading multiple posts in this forum will give you many many clues as to what is the best thing to do. I suggest reading the topics around image size, file type, and aspect ratios. The stickies here are a good launching point.
