i'm trying to make some wings for my gryphon furry, and have a good texture, but i cant get them to work properly...
i need to know a few things that ive seen others wearing:
how do i make a flat 2D square to put the texture on? i tried just flatening a cube, but it always has a .010 edge that ends up with a bit of the wing texture on it.
also, i cant make the image flip on the opposite side of the object.. if the wing is attached to my back when looking from the left, then the wing-tip will be poking me and it will look unattached from the right side. how do i flip the texture of the other side of the prim?

any help would be awsome cause this is driving me up the wall. lol

There's a couple things you can do. For that annoying edge, get a texture that is 100% alpha. Ingame, it will be 100% transparent and totally invisible. Put that texture on each side that you aren't using for the wing (usually 4 of the 6 sides, as you only really want 2 sides with the wing texture). If you don't know how to do an alpha layer in a graphic program, I can drop a transparent texture on you inworld. As for flipping the texture, there's a handy little box in the texture tab when editing an object (click 'more' to call it up when you are in edit mode). Actually, there's two boxes with the label 'flip' next to them. Check one to see if it flips the way you want. If not, uncheck it and check the other one.

some of this i knew about, but its the putting a texture on each face that i dont know howto do.. when i pick my texture it spreads it over the whole object, so i cant pick what face it goes on.

how do i select the 6 diffrent faces of the object and put what i want on each?

Ah, I forgot that part. When you edit the object, there's a bunch of radio buttons in the upper left corner of the edit pane. One of the choices is 'select texture', and when you choose that, you can then click on one side of a prim and only affect that side. You can put a different texture, different color, change all the offsets and everything else on the 'texture' tab, and only have it apply to that one side.

Object Mirroring?
05-22-2006 22:20
I've seen the wings, shoes, glasses, any other symmetry objects.
Once I made a one left wing and I want to mirror it left to right.
But edit menu has not mirror command.
Can you tell me how did you do that?
or I must make the right of wings?
