I was wondering if anyone had a tutorial for using PaintShop Pro 9.0. Any help or guidance would be great :) Sick of pulling my hair out :) To be more specific for designing clothing.

I am working on a visual tutorial on PSP transparencies for the SLUniverse Knowledge Base - I will post a message when I've finished it.

cool cristiano -- i also jotted this down from our various posts for the new in-world InfoNet. Lemme know your comments:

How to create alpha channels in Paint Shop Pro:

There are many methods, but this is one of the easiest and most effective.

-Create a new transparent image
-Add layers and do your work on each layer as needed
-When ready to create the transparency, do the following (with the topmost layer selected):
1) Go to Layers--> New Mask Layer --> From Image

2) Select Source Opacity

3) Select the mask layer that was just created and go to Layers --> Load/Save Mask --> Save to Alpha Channel

4) Go to File-->Save As, and pick Targa TGA as the file format. Choose the 24 bit option. PSP does not have a 32 bit option currently, but not to worry, if you select 24 bit uncompressed, the alpha file will save properly.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:
You can run into problems when saving a TGA (targa file), if you have more than one alpha channel at any point in time. You can see if you already have an alpha channel by going to Image --> Delete Alpha Channel. If this is greyed-out, you do not have an alpha channel.

One other tip: one way to get a cleaner edge is to create your alpha channel. Once this is done, add a layer at the bottom of your layer stack (so it is behind everything). Fill that layer with a color that matches the edges of your alpha channel. Then save the image. Don't worry -- with the alpha channel in place, the "filled" sections will show up in-world as transparent.

Once you have learned this technique, you can play around with saving other forms of masks (zero value) and saving selections to alpha channel.

These notes should work for the more recent versions of PSP. I cannot speak to very old copies.
