Hey guys, I don't know if this is a common problem or not. I tried to do some searching but I've yet to be able to find someone else with this problem. Ok, I'm trying to make my first piece of clothing and I have all the materials I need (I think). So just for starters to get my bearings, I took Chip's templates and loaded then onto the SL Avatar Previewer by Johan. But to my suprise, the templates didn't match them up at all with the previewer. And when I say not at all, I mean not at all. Just wondering if I'm missing a step. Keep in mind that all that I've done is I've taken the stock template and laid it on the previewer. And just to make sure that I'm understanding what the templates are for, I'm thinking that they are to guide artists to the proper location on a texture where that image that they want to turn into clothing will show up on an avatar. Here's a pic for reference. http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/8291/helpvr9.jpg

Looks like you put the lower body template on the upper body. Make sure you match the right template with the right body section.

Haha, no problem. If you're doing this stuff for the first time, it's a lot to take in. It's easy to call any one task simple and obvious, but when you put it in the context of everything else, anything can easily be overlooked. So don't feel bad.
If it makes you feel any better, I recently had a similar moment of lost marbles. Last week I joined a gym for the first time ever, and hired a personal trainer. I had my second appointment last night, during which the guy showed me how to use various weight machines. To me, the place looked like an explosion at a twisted metal spaghetti factory, with tubing, handles, pulleys, cables, plates, and Hephaestus only knows what else, strewn every which way. After a half hour of instruction in the basic use of these monstrosities, I found myself unable to remember how to find the next appointment on my Palm, a device I've been using for well over 10 years. (No, not the same one the whole time, but they all operate the same way. It's the easiest OS on the planet.) I kept scrolling to next week instead of tomorrow, and had no idea for a good minute or two why the appointment just wasn't there.
I think George Carlin said it best. "Ever go into a room, and then you have no idea why the hell you went in there? It's times like these that two little words pop into your mind, Alzheimer's Disease." Or as the great Denny Crane would put it, "Mad Cow."
We all get a little Mad Cow from time to time. Don't sweat it.

I was honestly embarrassed enough to worry that people over the internet would think I'm dumb .. But yeah right now I'm just finding stuff that I like to do so I thought I'd give tattooing/designing a try and was just getting my materials together. Don't worry, I'm not looking for instant gratification of a perfect piece of work, I LOVE to learn and experiment. Oh, and your story reminded me (I'm majoring in ATR) that I had been studying for the first half of the morning so I'm attributing it to a fried brain! Oh! (lol) Palms are the best! I got a TX

Hey> I'm new at creating clothes also. But I didn't just load the regular template, I painted a little on it and then saved it out. You have to save out as .trg format, which in the slcp viewer shouldn't matter. At least I don't think so. But try painting then the viewer and see what happens.
