Hello all...

Well we either love em or hate em right? One thing is for sure, as a creator and merchant, it is obvious that "one size will not fit all" unlike the cloth texture we use on our avvies. With the flexiprim skirt there are issues with different sized ladies and for the life of me. I cannot figure a way that they could be sellable without the buyer being able to mod the skirt to her own particular build. Or does the buyer mod her shape to the skirt?

I don't socialize much so i really don't know what the consensus is on this issue.

Any feedback would help.

Thank,

Lyric

As a tall (even by SL standards) av I won't buy flexi things that aren't modable.

Flexiskirts aren't too bad to mod... tend to stretch them with the white boxes. Someone did a set of 100% prim strappy armour. I went and bought that (it looks amazing). I spent 2 hours or more adjusting it, 1 prim at a time. SL crashed and I went back and did a load of it again...

So, for my money, I adjust the skirt to me.

Hi Lyric,

I had to start making my own flexi skirts for two reasons:

1. Many of them do not have waist bands, and I like that look.

2. The very reason you're talking about...being able to resize them! I don't want my behind hanging out every time I take a step, but I bought one and it didn't look right when I resized the entire thing.

Never again.

That's my L$.02 worth.

Best wishes,

~Ari

i fit them to my shape. the less pleats you use the better, both on flex lag and on ease of fitting to my shape (though the single prim flex skirts are a bit TOO simple for my taste. i do like pleats). i haven't had much trouble fitting the last few skirts i got, but yes definately definately make it mod. make everything mod that isn't a complex script. there's no reason not to :3 i don't buy no mod stuff, especially clothes cause my av is a little more realistically thick and alot shorter than most, and everything i buy takes some work to fit.

i think it's worth the trouble of fitting for the look of a prim skirt. the default old mesh skirts just don't fit my sexy butt and you've got alot more freedom to make cute shapes with prims :D

I've bought several flexi skirts which didn't have their perms listed, only to discover that they are no mod. As I have a smaller than average av, it really ticked me off. I had to spend days waiting for the vendor to contact me to have it "fitted," then was told I shouldn't buy a body that was no copy/no mod, because most designers would want to fit the skirt to my body.

I know folks are afraid of copycats, but frankly, I think you have to go with customer satisfaction. I won't buy nomod flexis any longer.

Scripts can be made to resize and reshape attachments. It isn't really trivial though.

Yes, I really feel the flexskirts should be mod for the reasons mentioned in this reply. I was just kinda leary about doing that cuz of theft etc.

I really love the many things that can be done with them and the way they move when you walk...so femmy and sexy :) But once again getting them to fit EVERYONE is impossible due to the varied av shapes and my av also tends to be a a bit well built below the waist, with a rounded backside and a slight tummy for realism. And that shape becomes a problem when modeling prim flexskirts from it, because of the butt cheeks slightly peeking thru the back of the skirt as I walk (rather tacky looking LOL) And certainly most avs in SL seem to prefer the flat butt/no tummy-look.

I like the idea of making a wasteband! That would make modding a lot easier for my customers rather than trying to edit one prim at a time ad nauseum....

Thanks for the replies , i really can use the input!

I really do love the way the flexi skirt w/waist band looks on me. It does take a bit longer to make, but I think it's worth it.

I have a rather full figured AV with a perky behind so I have to make the prims stand out from my body...but I like the fuller skirts any way.

Just an idea...I make matching boyshorts to go with my skirts, just in case the prims cut through me while I'm walking/flying and I don't want to moon anyone :)

As for theft, I figure it's going to happen BUT if your designs are well made and unique your customer base is going to be loyal....especially if they can modify! I had the same worries when I started doing hair, but I know one size does NOT fit every head...nor does every skirt fit every body and I'm so glad to hear that designers realize this.

Best wishes,

~Ari
