Which template are you using? By regular I get the impression you are using the Linden Lab supplied clothing, skin template that are available to download in the download section of the website. Those templates are not the best but they will work for clothing/skin making. Better ones are offered by Chip Midnight and Robin Sojourner in the stickies on this section of the forums.
Anyway, if that is what you are talking about then I think you might be a little confused on how to use them. The templates are merely guides to use to create your items.....not part of your items. You need to understand layers and alpha channels to create any clothing item or skin. There are some great stickies that will get you started.....again at the top of this forum section. They are geared to Photoshop but the basic method is the same no matter what program you use........the only absolute requirements for an image editing program for SL clothing/skin making is the ability to handle alpha channels (transparency), layers, and be able to save in the TGA or PNG format for uploading to SL. I'm pretty sure Coral Photo Shop will do all that........I know GIMP will. Paint.NET is another free program that will do an okay job (not as good as GIMP or, of course, Photoshop).
I know I have not answered your question but, without some knowledge on your part of the basics of image editing/creation using the necessary tools with your software it's near impossible to answer. Read the stickies then try some of techniques offline. Search the internet for tutorials using the program of your choice as a filter.......if you are using GIMP there are plenty.
Once you get the hang of it, you'll find it's a lot of fun. Good luck.

What is meant by "coral photo shop"? When you say "coral", do you mean Corel? If so, that's not the company that makes Photoshop. Photoshop is an Adobe product. Similar titles from Corel are Paintshop Pro and Photo-Paint. What exactly are you using? As for the templates, the old LL ones are no longer offered. They were discontinued a couple years ago. The ones currently on the Downloads page of the SL website are the ones made by Chip Midnight, which is why it says "generously provided by Chip Midnight" right on the page. They're the same ones you'll find at the top of this forum.

I took the Corel Photo Shop mentioned by the OP to mean Paintshop......but I didn't pick up on the misspelling of Corel. Thanks for picking that up.
