This object I've made from a cube to start with. I went back and forth from ring to cube changing the settings until the shape is what I want. When I applied the texture on the surface, I get a strange diagnal alignment on the surface. Changing the settings in the texture tab didn't fix it either. I'd appreciate any help. Thx in advance.

Have you tried setting the "Mapping" to Planar rather than Default?

I got a numbered texture alignment grid from a friend in NCI that helps out a lot. Even when not in Planar mode, I'm able to get a single texture to span a number of prims seamlessly.
My "Giant Blade In Head" is 6 prims with one aligned texture that I worked out using the grid. You can see it here: http://sluniverse.com/pics/pic.aspx?id=271074 IM me inworld if you want a copy. I'm usually in around 4pm SLT. (^_^)y --Also, I just noticed you're talking about a single prim. Probably after all the adjusting, that side has more than one face. If you check the "Select Texture" radio button in build dialog each face can be picked one-by-one so that each texture can be adjusted separately until they're finally aligned. HI Kit. A couple things:
I went back and forth from ring to cube changing the settings until the shape is what I want. Unless I missed something in your picture, just so yo know, you can save yourself some work next time you want to make that kind of a shape. Instead of switching the prim type back and forth, keep it as a cube from start to finish, and just hollow and taper it. You'd have that shape in about 3 seconds. When I applied the texture on the surface, I get a strange diagnal alignment on the surface. It looks to me like two things are going on. First, you've got the repeats per face set really high on the side that is facing the camera in your picture. As Imnotgoing said, turn on Select Texture in the editor, click on just that face, and then set the repeats to a more reasonable number (unless I'm misunderstanding you, and you really want so many repeats). The other issue is you've got the mapping set to default instead of planar. When you taper a cube, you must use planar mapping if you want the texture to remain square. For more information on default vs. planar mappings, see /109/1a/93769/1.html _____________________

Thanks for all the help. Plannar mapping did work. I can't believe how easy that was. lol. Imnotgoing Sideways, thx for the texture grid. It will help out alot. Chosen Few, your way of making the shape is quicker and easier. Idk what in the world I was thinking.
