So i have been noticing lately.. some clothing that you can mod will display the texture that comes with it.. as though you could replace it... Others will only give you the option to tint it or change the shape, etc..

I make my own clothing now, and am currently working on a line of goth/punk items i hope to release soon. I was wondering how one sets the textures to be hidden? I dont htink anyone would try to steal a texture by looking at the tiny little 124x124 looking preveiw window you can open with it... but i would rather leave anything to chance.

Anyone have any suggestions or ideas? Even if there is nothing i can do about it.. i am curious as to why some textures are displayed and others are not..

The only way a texture can be displayed in the texture chooser, in "Edit Appearance) is if you have that texture in your inventory otherwise you only see it in the small thumbnail version, and if the clothing is mod but you do not have the original texture and change the texture you have just lost the clothing to a new texture that may not be even close to the one used in the original. Thus ruining the clothing you bought.

The clothing I make is usualluy no mod but the ones that are are safe from theft because you have to have the actuall texture in your inventory to see anything larger than the thumbnail in the "Edit Appearance" window your textures will be almost impossible to duplicate unless someone buys it and sits and recreates the texture in a graphics program.

Have no fear of theft there, usually the alpha sections in clothing make the textures impossible to steal.
