Hi There! I'm having a very recently aquired problem with my skirts. I am slowly getting the feeling that they just don't like me!! Ok. Here's the deal. The textures were created with Photoshop and AVPainter. They were uploaded as a 32bit targa file as the skirt texture was not created full length. Skirt was generated and texture was attached to the item. After a relog, the skirt was gone! I took it off - put it back on. Used the appearance menu to modify length and rebaked the texture. After many varieties of the above, it did show up again. However, any further use of the appearance menu - it runs away again. Any explination as to why this is happening now? I have been making skirts with no issues for a couple of months... so I am confused. Thank you so much for any advice or help!! - Keely

There is a bug in the release candidate that hasn't been killed yet that will cause this. You might want to run the regular client when wearing system skirts for now.

Yeah - I was afraid of that. *sigh*
There is also the possibility that that particular texture is corrupted - the rest of them work after rebaking a couple of times.
I'm going to try re-uploading that one and see if that helps.
Thank you!!

Anyone know when this little nasty bug will be fixed? Ok. The situation was explained to me... Heh. Ok. I will cater to the standard... and not worry so much. And why do some people seem to have the problem while others do not? Telling someone wearing my dress that I can see their underwear is a bit embarrassing! Thanks!!

This has been driving me bats as well, when using the Release Candidate.
What is happening is that the client for some reason decides the skirt length is zero, despite the actual setting being 100 (or possibly other values). Rebaking avatar textures can make the skirt come back, but a teleport is likely to make it vanish again. Sometimes, if the skirt is modifyable, changing the length to a different value, like 95%, saving the change, and then setting it back to 100% and saving again will also fix it, temporarly.
Any way you look at it, the bug is quite annoying!

I am sorry that you are having this problem as well - but it feels so much better to hear that I'm not alone!! Yes. It is VERY annoying. I am just starting out - and to have problems like this come up... it can make someone feel so helpless. *grumbles* I will encourage everyone that hear having this problem to use the original version - not release - when dealing with a non-prim skirt. I use them so rarely, but when I do... it is for a very definate reason. Thank you for replying!

The bug for this is https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-2778It has 234 votes so far, and still no fix in sight. Many workarounds have been proposed, but essentially they are all combinations of rebake-go into Appearance-rebake. I had this issue and it captured text from avatar bubbles on the skirts...strange strange... I don;t like Sl skirts anyway, but some of my longer dresses need them.... this is a need to fix issue for SL.

I can not believe after all these months sitll this same issue.. I noticed problems in Feb. and I see others had this months before me.. and here it is the end of July!!!! Shame on you Lindens!!!!! Get your head out of ... the dark! We are asked opinion in surveys when signing and my responds is always the same... stop adding more until u can keep what is here running correctly.. OK enough is enough... It is not fair to designers, for one thing.. and when I wanna wear a skirt i wanna see it.. so for pity sake someone do something about this!!!!!!!!!!! and yes..... I have emptied my cache and everything else I have seen suggested.

1.20 is done, it will probably be released this week, the release notes and what's new stuff are already out. That should be the end of the skirt thing.

It has been fixed in the current release candidate client (1.20 R14). You may need to rebake the character textures a time or two after starting to use the newer client, but the issue shouldn't recurr after that for a given skirt while you remain in the new client. If you go back to an earlier client, that will still have this bug.
