I think its related to creating detail large prim/textured images or renders in SL. My Friend scans images then uses rendering software, don't remember name but then she builds through script each part of image on megaprim in sky to make image that will be seen in world map. Forgot the exact name but each part of image represents a number and color placement or what script she wrote that did that. Not exactly sure exactly how each detail works, its been a while. Just remember it used over 3000 prims. _____________________

a good idea that will give you some insight to this will come from when you do a search on the *cough cough* dreaded Longcat sim in the map search.
just type Longcat and search it. right now it should be a picture of mario or a shyguy. anyway bit mapping is per pixel editing using prims as pixels instead of texturing. that image you see is all prims colored to look like pixels this requires a lot of planning because as everyone knows theres the dreaded prim shift that can ruin a project like this. but also consider if its worth doing due to the amount of prims needed. |

ok, I may be using the wrong term because its not making a picture out of prims lol that would interest me, what I am looking for is a tutorials on creating textures that wrap around a prim shape correctly specifically the edges of a shape.
Ex. if I wanted a spoked tire and I used a cylinder the texture created would wrap around the edge creating the rubber that hits the road if you will ![]() or a door, same thing to bitmap the texture to coincide with turning a corner at the edge. I've use on sculpties even did some of it just thought someone might know of a tutorial on bit mapping textures. An old salt, thats qt in so many ways lol ![]() |

your asking about texture sheeting, use advanced search on the texture forums. You will find tons on this.
heres just one good thread of many /109/7d/168678/1.html while inworld do a search on the name Robin Sojourner. In her picks you will find the location of her texture tutorial center, where she has a great set of tutorials on most aspects of texture use in sl. You will also find there a free texture used for setting up the sheets and basic instruction. |

Texture sheeting now...it may be also but...
I believe it's called "Texture Mapping". Where a single texture is divided into areas which correspond to the faces of a target prim. _____________________
