Hii =)
I´ve made a very complex texture for a Ess prim in SL. I made it round , but when i uploaded it i noticed, that SL wraps the texture around the prim like a mantle. Does anyone know a programm in wich i can deform my round texture to a square ? I really dont want to paint the whole texture again.
Thanks , Sacyra

Hi!
Yep. Photoshop will do that.
You'll find it in Filter > Distort > Polar Coordinates. Click the Polar to Rectangular radio button, and your round image will be flattened, so the center point becomes the top edge.
This will make it fit perfectly on a hemisphere, which is just what you want, assuming that the original image was what you would see if you looked at your sphere from the top (or bottom.)
In other words, if your original texture was meant to cover half the sphere, you'll need to squish the results of the Polar Coordinates filter to the top half of the image, copy, Flip Vertical, and drag that half to the bottom it to get a texture that will cover the whole sphere in SL.
If you had a texture that was meant to wrap completely around the sphere in a polar projection, you'll be fine.
In either case, there will be some "wobbliness" in the lines at the poles in SL. That is because of the way that spheres are mapped in SL, (which changes with screen resolution, so we can't compensate for it,) and there's nothing that can be done about it, I'm afraid.
Most people have learned not to see it, though, so it'll be fine.
Hope this helps!
