I am bit confused in how to do this my friend gave me grid but it didn't really explain to me how I could do 3d texture in my art program as 2d.
So here I am asking anyone have clue how to take 3d shape from sl and texture it in 2d form in photoshop then turn it back into 3d in SL?
Thank you in advance,
Cluelessly yours, FD

Although some of our very intelligent fellow SL'ers have created some easy ways to create
sculpted prims, to date there is no ultra easy way of creating textures for them.

Since the baked rgb map takes its info from the uv map of your model you can save your
uv map as a 2d graphics file and paint onto it and save it as your exterior texture but you will
need to have a grasp on where the various features of your model are affected on the uv map.
If you are using Rok or Tok then it can be pretty counterintuitive as to how to paint on it
as your initial visualization of the model is in 2d.

However there is a great deal of data available on how to approach the challenge.

and this new one,

Which explains the basic concepts in a more easy to understand way.

There are also a few valuable tips in this link.

The way I approach anything of complexity is to take it one step at a time and then
repeat the step until I am sure I understand it and then to go to the next one.
In this method by the time you reach your goal it will all seem much more natural.

A less frustrating way to texture sculpties

I saw this somewhere, and made my own. It is what I refer to as a Texture Aligner (not even sure if I spelled it right).

If you put the texture on the prim, and open it in you image software, it will give you an idea of where what falls.

Has helped me a lot.

I know you can make a UV Texture, but I found that when it is in sl.... it sometimes is off a hair. Who knows, maybe I am doing something wrong.

Thank you for responding.
I must confess I am really really frusterated.
I have been trying to figure out ways of ways of creating hand drawn and collage like textures for various objects including sculpted prims.
One object is ornate dressing table, I am trying to figure out how to sculpt it and
how to texture it. Other thing I tried to figure out is how to do entire garden area of sculpted prims. I found great and easy program for flowers called Sculpty Prims but the textures I have leave the object missing something.
When it comes to creating the more complex things its been quite difficult for me and I feel like one of the most stupidest creators in SL right now.
There some really great and easy to use sculpted prim programs I have discovered like sculpty paint and Rokuro but not much about textures that my mind can comprehend.
I didn't even know what a texture map was until I read a post about it.
I checked out one site mentioned above it has given me some ideas.
I will bookmark this in my blog so I can come back when it less hot and my mind is bit less frusterated and overwhelmed.
