Basically, I need to somehow get either my skin, my body tattoos or my clothing to be shiny, as though they were primitives and I had used the Shiny quailty on them. Is there a way to do this, and if so, how?

You can't make your avatar shiny.
You can't make transparent prims shiny. You CAN make pink prims shiny, I suppose, and build a humanoid avatar entirely out of skin-colored shiny attachments, but that would take a lot of time and skill. Alternatively, you could have a statical shine applied to your skin texture in photoshop. For instance I have a shiny metal texture, basically a gradient, that I used in beta/1.0, before there was a shiny feature. By statical I mean that the shininess will not appear to move with the camera angle, as the shiny feature does. _____________________
