I was fiddling around with the standard issue Library/Objects/Household/Cabin the other day and would like to know how to get at the textures used therein. There is a nice roof shingle texture and a nice weathered wood siding texture there. The objects involved have multiple textures which means you can't see the names of the textures to see if you have them without looking at your texture inventory one by one.

Suggestions for where to get similar textures or how to get the texture through screen capture are not responsive to my question.

You could try a simple script. llGetTexture(integer side) will give you the key of the texture if it has full permission.

Darn, I should have thought of that! Thanks.

That worked just fine. There are some nice texture's in the Linden freebies, and if you wanted to make something based on them, having the exact textures is nice. What got me started on this was a few minutes of silliness trying to make a multi-story cabin, a pointless amusement at the thought of a high rise cabin.

Now, is there any way to get that texture in such a fashion as to have it stored by name as with the other textures that came in our Library/Texture folders. Not that I need to, it's just a question to pass the time with.

I recall someone earlier today asking about how to get a copy of a cabin by Bill Linden, not the one I have, but a similar one. They might be able to get the owner of the cabin they want a copy of to drop a script in and produce the texture keys if they can't get an actual copy of the old cabin itself.

If you can contact the original creator of the building, then yes, you can get the original texture as an inventory object.

Otherwise, you may just have to try and muddle along with a key.

You could always Force Sunset, turn the roof towards the light and take a snapshot. XD I've done that to get a texture off Library objects before.. With some snazzy cropping, you can get the texture pretty seamless in PS or whatever.
