Hey , I wonder if it would be a good idea to have somewhat of a software glossary as a sticky on this forum.
I have been on and off texture creation for many years now but whenever I come back to the forum after a long stay away , I hear these new software names thrown about and I get pretty confused! And as I'm constantly re-learning I never really know which software is best to use and what the pros and cons are.
Does anyone else think it would be a good idea to list the software that you come across all in one sticky where people can add based on their experience what they think the software is best used for , its usefulness for texturing , the kinds of textures its best for (skinning , clothing , metals ...etc) , pros and cons , price , and the learning curve?
I recently noticed Chip Midnight's post on 3D Coat and my first thought was how useful it would be if people posted these new programs in one post , where all users can go to find out from other's experiences what is the best program out right now on the market for them to use.
Also we could add plug-ins for software like Photoshop..etc to the glossary.
