Anyone know where I can get a program that can conveter almost any image type into a WAD? Would be really helpful.

As far as I know, WAD files are unique to Id Software games, and the only programs that can create them are Id's own editors. After a quick search of their website, here's the page with all the tools they offer: http://www.idsoftware.com/business/techdownloads/ . I would imagine the Quake editor can do what you want, but I haven't tried it.
