Hello all. I received so much help from an earlier question, I thought I would try again. I don't always word things the best so I hope I can express what I am asking correctly. I am trying to make a belt for my avvie. The belt would consist of a series of rings. However, I didn't want to use 30 prims for it. So I decided to use a cylinder with a texture. First, I made a texture with a single ring. I then applied that to a cylinder I created for the belt. I set the texture repeater settings so that it lined up exactly how I wanted it to. With one problem. I cannot get rid of the "edge" of the belt. It's as if the belt is too thick. Not "up and down" too thick, but from "inside to outside" too thick. I hope I am making sense. This thickness allows the texture to be seen on the top and bottom edges of the belt and messes the whole thing up. Is there a way to either decrease the thickness of the cylinder wall even more, or to make the edges transparent in some way? I maxed out the "hole size" settings and can't get it any thinner. Any thoughts? Thanks so much in advance!

You can put a blank texture on the sides where you don't want the texture. IM me in world and I can give you an alpha texture and help you if you want.

That will happen yes. You could try advanced cut. However, something a lot of people are doing is to use the skirt layer to make a belt. You might find that with a little effort, that would be more suited to what you're trying to achieve.

Followup: I was able to get the cylinder walls thinner by playing with the "advanced cut" settings. But now something even weirder is occurring. When viewing the belt (off my avvie) the texture is overlapping, but on the exterior surface only. When viewing from slightly above, the interior looks perfect, but the outside surface is not right at all. Yikes? Should I start from scratch?

You can't layer skirts, can you?
