Does anyone know of a program that can render textures onto a model with a decent lighting solution, then unwrap or flatten the baked textures?

Thanks

That really depends on whether you are willin to spend money or not. I just started using bodypaint, but it isnt cheap. I will let some others catch this one.

Try Blender....

Try Blender, as it's free, cross platform, powerful and has plenty of online tutorials available - as well as a good user manual.

You can download it from http://www.blender3d.org

The user interface is somewhat hard to grasp - at first - but if you study the documentation and available tutorials, you may find (just like I did) that is an incredible piece of software, and can do pretty much anything you might want it to, as far as 3D modeling, UV texturing and animation goes.

I should have thought of Blender. I have used it for years.

I know the latest and greatest version supports UV unwrapping for creating UV texture maps, but I did not know you could unwrap baked textures. I'll have to search the community for more info.

Actually, you can order printed manuals and guides, if you're so inclined.
Besides, how many software applications actually come with a printed manual that is more than a how-to-install guide these days?

Also, the Blender NOOB to PRO tutorial series is plenty to get most people up to speed with Blender.
