Ok Hi all. I am not sure how to go about this so any help would be great. I have been looking for a skin that is Kind of a vampire one I cant find none I like so I was thinking of making my own or modifying one that I may have. OK if I have a skin that is a full permission one how do I go about getting the face and or skin texture out of the skin so I can modify it I want to use photoshop or is there a template type thing that I can use other then the grid looking thing that is already out there that I have. Like a basic skin that is in a photoshop format so I can use as a guide line I hope I am making sense lol. I found some stuff in my second life folder but well Like the skin I wear now if I look at it in the appearance in sl they look transparent and around it is transparent all the way I am sure I will have to use a alpha channel for that I would think. I am just needing a starting point a guide so to speak this will be my first attempt at a skin and I am not going to making any to sell this will be just for me. Thanks for any and all help.

If you haven't already done so, you might try searching for "goth" skins, they might have the look you want.

If you have searched only in world, you could also try searching on SL Exchange:
http://www.slexchange.com

Links to templates can be found in this thread:

As to "full permission" skins, you should be able to save them to your PC. Not sure how this is done.

I have found some great looking female goth skins but just cant find a good looking male goth skin They seem to be lacking detail in the face features. And them are the templates I have they are like the mesh or wire looking I am looking more for one that is already kind of laid out hard to explain thats why I was wondering also how I could mod a full permission one maybe thats the kind of the template I am looking for one that is already kind of made just not fully made. I don't want no ones design I want my own but need a starting point other then the mesh frame looking one. Hmm hard to explain I can tell I am even confusing my self lol thanks for the info though. And any and all help I thank you for :)

To modify a full perm skin you will need to save it to your PC and then edit it in a graphics program. (I don't know how it works with a Skin, but with a Texture you just open it in SL and select "File>Save" to save it to your PC.)

I have seen ads both in this forum and the SLX forum about people selling full perm skins, so they ARE out there somewhere, a little searching should find them.

the only way you can edit a skin texture is if you have the actual textures that are applied to the "tattoo" layers

full perm doesn't mean you get the texture files it merely means that you can copy, resell and mod the skin via SL sliders)

some may include the texture files, if they are there, then you would download those to your PC to edit

(check the box the skins came in for the texture files, IF they were included)

try looking at Wilted Rose (I think that's the name). They have a freebie shop where things are 1L. I know freebies for 1L, but I don't own it, lol. You may also try Freebie Planet. Never overlook the freebies. :)
