Hi, I am looking to make some jewelry and I need diamond or gem textures.

I have found some pictures on the web that with a lot of mangling could be made into round textures for the top of a diamond but I also need tiling ones for the side and ones that are corrected for the cone or spherical distortion.

Are these available either free or for sale?
(I have seen the ones on sale at slexchange but they are too low res to be of any use to me. )

I am thinking that the best solution would probably be a hand drawn one, so if there is a tutorial on making diamond textures from scratch I would be interested to know about that also.

thanks

This is a pretty good tutorial on drawing gemstones by hand:

http://www.pspiz.net/tutorials/intermediate/GemDraw.html

If you're doing things for SL, you may want to really crank up the contrast, unless you're using big gems. Textures on tiny objects get blurred when you zoom out, and your realistic diamond texture may turn into nothing more than a smear when applied to jewelry and viewed at a normal distance.

I have numerous, excellent gemstone textures which I have acquired by taking classes at the fabulous TeaZer's University. Classes that offer these are:
1) Royalty Crown
2) Any bling jewelry class
3) Pimp cane classe
4) Elf table class

and many others.

Thanks DrFran. I took one jewelry class at TeaZers that was helpful but it didn't involve textures sadly. It looks like they would be pretty easy to make by that tutorial though, so I am enthused about making my own.
