I was wondering if someone gave me a texture for like clothing or skin or tattoos or something, if I could somehow find the file and edit it in Photoshop...is that possible?
The whole creating something from scratch seems daunting, but I've gotten a couple things that I really like, but I want to edit a little? So is there a way I could do this?

If you have full permissions on the texture, just open it to view by double clicking it in inventory. The go File -> Save Texture As...
If you don't have full permissions, there are ways to extract textures from from any program if you know the ins and outs of your operating system, but I won't discuss them. For anything you want to modify that's not intended for modification, you'll have to contact the creator and see what you can work out. Many skin makers will do alterations for customers at little to no charge.

At least this way, the hint has been dropped that discussing such things is a no-no.
