How to create a NEW shape

Hi - hope someone can help me. I know how to manipulate shapes and create entirely new ones. I have already created a small range of female shapes. But how do I actually CREATE a new shape so that I can be credited as the creator? Thankfully my existing line of shapes just says creator unknown. I surely would have noticed if another name was there.

It must be possible as I've seen shapes that are so credited but I'll be damned if I can see how.

Thanks in advance.

In the Appearance controls, select "New Shape", and save that. Make your slider changes to that, and save the result. If you edit someone else's shape, or if you start with a shape from the Linden defaults, it won't have your name on it.

Yes, this means you'll have to manually copy the slider settings from the ones you already made into a newly created one that can be credited to you.

I've found that making anything from within the appearance editor can have unpredictable results. Sometimes it puts my name on it, sometimes not. If you want a method that's guaranteed to work (at least as well as SL can "guarantee" anything), always make new body parts and clothing from inventory. Then, drag them onto yourself to edit them.

Thanks to you both - I did eventually work out what you both meant, I think. All I can say is WOW that couldn't be LESS intuitive. I'm complaining about the interface NOT your helpful pointers.

In case anyone is slightly more hard of understanding than I was about this, the simplest way to make your own shape from scratch is to use the Inventory window and not the Change Appearance one.

Inventory/Create/New Body Part/New Shape (or Hair/Eyes/Skin)

Thanks again

Glad you got it worked out. You're right that it's counter intuitive. I believe the problem in the appearance editor is actually a long standing bug that has never been squashed. It's probably low priority due to the fact that there's an effective work around in place in the inventory window. It would be nice if someone over there at LL or someone in the open source community would get on it.
