Hi!
I was wondering if there is a program that converts different texture templates to SL templates, like having a upper body texture from lets say Poser which has the body parts differently arranged than the standard SL skin template.
Thanks,

I know of none programs who does this. It is possible in theory, but only by adjusting the maps by hand - which take a lot of time. There are several progams that can be used to adjust the UV map manually - for instance Deep UV or LightWave. I would not reccomend what you want to try. It will propably be both easier and faster to make a new texture for your SL avatar from scratch - using the templates available for us (from Chip Midnight, Robin Sojourner or from Linden Labs). And then just look at the Poser texture for inspiration Lis

There are two problems with what you want to do.
First, the "templates" aren't templates. They are Vertex Maps, which assign coordinates on the U and V axes to the various points in the model mesh. When read, the program takes the colors from that point in your 2D painting, and makes that point that color, extrapolating the colors between the points.
The coordinates on the axes have to be assigned to the model, of course. This is known as "ordering the UVs."
The map from one model won't work on another model, unless someone takes the second model and laboriously matches the first one, point for point. This is difficult to do when the models don't have the same number of points. The Poser models are High Resolution, which means that they have hundreds of thousands of points. The Linden AV models are Low Resolution. You can see how many they have, by looking at their UVs.
So this would be difficult, but not impossible, to do.
However, given the fact that all the Poser maps are copyrighted, unless they are maps that you have already made, you won't be able to use them legally anyway.
Yes, I know that SL is full to the brim with copyright violation. The thing is, the big companies are going to have to do something about it, sooner or later, because they can't afford not to. Billions of dollars are at stake.
So, I'm strongly advising everyone to start being very careful about copyright now. That way, when the proverbial stuff hits the spinning blades, you won't be caught. And, the more careful each of us is, the less chance that SL will be shut down over it.
Sorry I can't give you better news.
