to rotate brushes in photoshop? The orientation of the brush is what I mean. There's one that goes from side to side and I'd like to use it going up and down. So instead of having my brush look like this for example > i want to change it so it looks like ^. Using PS 8 by the way. Thanksssss

Yes, use the "brush tip shape". In this example I have the brush shape rotated 45 degrees. This is PS 7, so PS 8(CS) may be different.

A comparison between 90 and 45 degrees with all other brush settings turned off.

If anyone knows how to do this in CS2, please let me know! I've asked and asked, and nobody seems to know.

Jana, thanks for asking this question. I've often wondered the same thing and the whole time the answer was staring me in the face! Thanks Namssor for your reply. I'm just a novice photoshop user who has pretty much learned what I know from reading tutorials and tips from others. (also a lot of trial and error, mostly error LOL). I"ve gone into the brush options and never noticed the rotation tool at the bottom. This is wonderful! Thanks

The same way as in CS? - Select brush tool. - Menu Window-> Brushes (F5 in normal keyboardconf. on windows, don't know on Mac atm). - Then click 'Brush Tip Shape' just like in the CS examples here. - Change angle by either editing box or manipulating the 'vector view' in the panel.

LOL it's funny that most of the answers regarding PS are soooo simple. Makes me wanna smack my forehead and say duhhhhhh. But thanks for the answers all! I'm thinking that PS should be a full 4 year course of study at college! So I'd have my BS in PS one day
