Is there a black t-shirt template around?
I'd like to make a black t-shirt with a logo but I suck at PS, but I think I could manage to put a picture on a black t-shirt ;)

The easiest thing for you to do would probably be to grab Robin Sojourner's T-shirt template, and paint it black. If you know enough to be able to put a picture on it, I would assume you probably also know enough to be able to change the coloring, but if you don't, ask away, and one of us can help you out.

If you paint it black you loose the hems and collar, or you end up with white hems and collar.
You also loose the shadow on the lower part.
So painting Robins template isn't really an option.
And it doesn't really have to be a template, just the black .bmp or jpg or tga would do just fine.
I'm sure I'm not the first one who wants a black t-shirt. Most of the band shirts in SL are.

Bump? While SL is down I'm learning some PS, but I can't get the hems and collar right...

Riffey, if coloring it black obscures too much detail for you, how about a very dark gray instead?

So you know, it's perfectly natural that you can't have shadows on a black surface. Unlike the real world which has almost infinite levels of blackness, computer screens only have one. Once you've gone to full black, there's no further to go for shading. Since you had asked for a black T-shit, I assumed that was the look you wanted.

Try putting an overlay layer above the whole T-shirt template, and experiment with different shades of gray on it until you find one you feel is dark enough to pass for black, but light enough to leave a little room for shading. (To do that, make a new layer on the top of the stack, pull down the Blending Modes menu from the upper left of the Layers Palette, and select "Overlay". Paint the layer gray, and then you can lighten or darken it as you see fit either by repainting or by using the Image -> Levels or Image -> Brightness/Contrast commands.)

How much detail are you looking for? I have some spare time. I'd consider doing it for a little L$ if it's in my skill level.

Like Chosen mentioned, just add an adjustment layer (a levels layer or Hue/Saturation/Brightness layer will do the trick) and play with the sliders to get as dark as you can without going stark black.

I find that about a 93-97% grayscale value (can be shown via the info palette) will appear very close to black, yet still hold detail like highlights and some shading. But that depends on your monitor!!! What looks black on one monitor may look a dark dingy gray on another--nothing we can do about it unless we have all SL users calibrate their monitors!

Well, we haven't got much else to do today anyway. Everyone ready? Time for the Million Monitor Match. :D

Hello Riffey...the perfect way to make Robins T-shirt black is to invert it. It gives you the exact opposite colors on the original t-shirt so you still keep the seems. =)

What I did for darker color T-shirts is grab the alpha channel of the wrinkles and folds, invert and then ctrl-select (to create a selection based on the alpha), create a new layer and fill with white. This will give you the white high lights and with the regular fold layer, make sure that you have that on multiply so that there are still shadows...

todays downtime gave me some time to continue on the shirt.
I did what Bones did. That's good enough to make a black shirt. Tnx!
