anyone else have all their textures screwed up on linked objects? i bug reported this, but i thought if anyone else had this happen maybe there's a workaround. basically when i work with a linked object (i.e. house) at some point all the texture horizontal repeats change to some arbitrary number (so far it's been either 1.000 or 10.000) which really screws things up. last night it happened to a house i had finished, and i very carefully fixed them all, put it in my inventory, and when i rezzed it all the textures were back to screwed up. the only way i found to get around this (temporarily, still broken when i rez) was to select individual texture panes without having the object selected first. if the object is selected and i choose "select texture" it changes every texture repeat. so i edit some other object or hit the "build" button, then deselect, then select a texture i want to fix. but in the end it still broke. this bug doesn't seem to apply to non-linked prims. anyone else? workarounds? known bug with a fix on the way? help!

You might want to read this link from SLUniverse. Coco has been having a lot of texturing problems. http://www.sluniverse.com/forums/Topic14633-1-1.aspx I hope this helps you? jen

Aye... I am experiencing that too.. Gets very frustrating resetting all the repeats, then having them all change to some other value. It seems that when I use select texture to change only one face, no matter how careful I am to make certain I only have that one face selected, it changes about half of the rest of the project to the same repeats.

I haven't seen this, but I have been having a chronic case of textures disappearing from my inventory. It's maddening. I'll apply a texture to a surface, and a minute later when I want to apply it to a different surface, it's gone.
Usually a relog seems to rest the inventory, and fixes the problem, but I've had a few disappear permanently. It's crazy.

thanks for the link; i'm having the same problem coco's having. the only suggestion in there was to try a less laggy sim. i'm building alone in a new (well the last of the $1250's) private sim up in a sky platform, with reasonable draw distance.
but if it helps to spin around three times and rename all my textures i'll do it. so maybe i'll just find another sim somewhere.
i think i've had this bug with both my computers, but i'll switch again anyway in case that helps. hell, i'll build naked if i have to. maybe i will anyway, at least i'll have something to laugh about.

From: Parker McTeague hell, i'll build naked if i have to. maybe i will anyway, at least i'll have something to laugh about. LOL If you announce it ahead of time, I am sure you will have lots of company. I thought someone had suggested unlinking the prims to apply textures, then relinking? Jen

Yes, it's why I quit building for the time being. I have been working on some small items, instead, and also decorated a Christmas tree for our house. I have thought about unlinking and then texturing the house, but now there are two reports why that would be a waste of time: 1. Yours, saying that when you rez the thing again, the textures are messed up again. 2. Another person's or couple of people saying that it still messes up on even single prims, and/or messes up again once you link the prims. In any case, please bug report this. Blue was looking into it for me, but he doesn't like my bug reports. "Try to texture anything" was the first thing I said, and that was, he said, "not a traditional bug report." I did include as much details as I could, though. So if those of you could bug report your experiences as well, maybe this might get fixed. Apparently the more people bug report it, the more likely they are to believe there may actually be a problem. It worked before the update, now it doesn't. It's broken. They broke it. I hope they fix it. coco

I have been having this problem, too. I really need to bug report it -- it's been hard, though, because it seems so random, and I like to actually include instructions in my bug reports. Somebody else in another thread said that flipping to the general tab in the edit window is what causes the textures to switch, but I'm not sure that's correct. The only thing I can recommend -- besides bug reporting this, which you should do (and which I should) -- is to texture objects that are unlinked, and then select them all and take a copy without linking them. (It'll show up in your inventory as one item, probably called "Object." Then link them; if you don't get lucky, you can just rez a new copy of the unlinked objects. However, I haven't tested this much. It seems like it should work, but it might not. Oh, and it's not the sim you're working in. I'm texturing things in my skybox in the brand new sim I co-own -- a sim that performed admirably when stuffed with nearly 60 avatars at one point -- and I'm getting this.

That's what so cool about SL: if you can imagine it, you can build it.
Right?

No, it's not checking on general tab that does it for me. I spent hours in the object tab, and it would happen every 10 times or so.
