Hi,
Does anyone have some information about how to create art posters for SL.
I have quite a lot of photoshop knowledge, so that should not be a problem.
I found templates and guidelines for Clothing, but nothing so far about art.

I'm just figuring out how to get my art to a gallery (or create my own) and "sell" it, just for the shear fun of it.

All hints and tips are welcome!

Upload a picture, apply it to a flattened cube, and you've got a poster. Was there more to your question than that?

Thanks! That did not sound to hard actually.

I guess my next step is to learn howto create that flattened cube and make my artwork fit in.
Then I think I need to add a script that allow people to "buy" it.

So my next question would be where I can create that cube.

Thanks in advance!

Click the blue button at the bottom of the screen that says "Build". The object editor window will open. On the "Object" tab, click the little cube icon. Now click somewhere on the ground. Your new cube will appear on the ground where you clicked.

All the cube's properties can be adjusted via the editor window. That includes size, rotation, texturing, everything.

Take a look at the editor, and if there's anything on it you can't understand, come on back and ask.

You might also want to read the help files for a quick introduction to the building tools (and everything else), and I'd recommend you check out the Ivory Tower of Primitives for some more in depth explanation of the various options for all the prim types.

Oh, and to set something for sale, you don't need a script. Simply click on the "General" tab in the editor, turn on the For Sale checkbox, set your price, and set the permissions you want the next owner to have. (For more info on permissions, see the sticky at the top of the building forum.) You only need a script in place if you want to set up a vending machine to sell more than one item out of a single object. If all you're doing is setting the poster to sell copies of itself, no scripting is necessary.

Assuming that you do not own land, you can go to a sandbox to build. Do a search on the word sandbox in your search window. When you are in a place you can build, simply hit the build button or left click the ground and select create.

There is a place you can go in world for a building tutorial but I can't think of the name of it. The ivory tower maybe?

You will need to upload your artwork images as textures and they will stretch to fit the cube. You will need to have your pixel dimensions to be in powers of 2: 256x256 or 128x512 and so on. 512x512 is generally a good size for a poster.

A resident called Felowen Dodge gave a class at his gallery on exactly this question. He may be able to help you and he has a very nice gallery.
