I have searched for "upload" and "upload texture" and have found nothing, so now i am asking you, SL members. How do i upload a texture? Do i just click 'upload picture', then choose my texture?

It's located in the file menu :) It's called "upload image." That will open a file browser that allows you to pick a single texture. It will then show that texture in a preview window where you can choose to see it as a flat texture or wrapped around the appropriate body part.

If you want to do more than one texture at a time, use "bulk upload."

It might be helpful, for those learning texturing, to note that textures can be rotated and offset in game. As a new user, I needlessly wasted time in Photoshop trying to compensate for what I perceived as errors in the upload preview (inverted image, wrong aspect ratio, etc.)

Upload Image may not show as available in the File menu if you do not have L$10.
And as another note for those learning texturing, you can tint textures in-game. Not exactly change the hue, but you can add a color tint to a texture. Thus you could make a gray texture and tint it to be reddish.. though it may not be as detailed as, say, an already red texture with orange and yellow highlights.

Remember, if you want to upload textures, make sure they are BMP, TGA or JPG (I recommend TGA)

Targa Files can have alpha layers, which is really easy to work with, even for clothing, it took some time that I understood the whole purpose of it. I don't know what kinda textures you want to upload but make sure you make the textures in the power of 2, so for example 2,4,8,16,32,64,128,256,512. I won't suggest you go higher, due to long upload and load time. (depends on the system you working on, but you have to take in account that not everybody has a kick ass computer that loads second life up in less then 3 seconds and rezzes everything in less then 10 seconds)

Targa Files can have alpha layers

Before Chosen shouts very loudly again, let me point out that targa files for use in SL can have (but don't have to have) 1 alpha CHANNEL which carries transparency information, in the same way the Red, Green and Blue channels carry information about the colours.
