Not sure if this is the correct location for this thread, admin please move if not acceptable here.
I have made a few flexi skirts but I notice that female avatars with a healther bottom have odd things happen within the back area of the skirt, for instance both cheeks pop out and the flexi rides the back crotch area, yet the front is perfect. (on a skirt shape or without the skirt shape for your avatar) So I know you use one for skirts and one for pants if you have this option.
I also noticed that this seems to be a common occurance because I see it a lot on flexi skirts that do this however, I have seen some that do not have this issue and align wonderfully. I figure this is the skill of the designer and i would love to tap into that a bit. I am not a huge flexi skirt fan for this reason, but I so hate the SL skirts... I wear pants a lot in SL. There is a happy middle I am sure, I'm still searching for that.
So, my question is this how do I compensate for this, should the panels be rotated at a certain degree to allow flow over the behind? Or is there another way to do this. I have tried making front to back larger but then I get waist, or hip gaps.
Also, is the pelvis the best attach to point for the skirts or have I been putting them on the wrong place?
thanks for all help. T.S

Two things I do on my dresses:
1) Move the flexi skirt up, to a higher waist.
2) Give your flexi more "poof".

Well I have several things to add to this:
1) This is when you have finnished the skirt already, in edit mode you can rotate the dress a little backwards. So you lift it up at the back a lil. not too much because otherwise you can see a difference in length of the skirt.
2) I don't know wich program u use to make them. I use Ged Larssens and u can give it a little more or less flare. And you can use more or less depth too.
3) Also you can do a lot with the fexible path. You will have totoggle with the different tabs there. sometimes when you use more or less gravity it will just give you the right look for it.
All of this needs just a lot of time and and patienve. Zoom close and further every time because sometimes it looks great from a distance and it looks crappy close.
Hope I could be of some help, have fun, *AE*

Great tips! And yes, messing with the flex path settings will do a lot in this context. Few possible additions: IMHO even the best made skirts can show a little bottom, especially if you don't want lots of 'poof' (not every skirt is a ballgown Add glitchpants and/or a basic skirt layer (yes your bum will look big in that with matching texture. I for one am also happy to accept a bit of bottom sticking through if that makes the skirt hang just so. Also, while Ged's gizmo is a great gizmo (I use it mostly for jewellery btw) I find that I end up manually adjusting most panels anyway. Oh and yes attaching to pelvis is my preferred option. Alternative would be to attach to spine, but lots of people use that point for other things. Have fun sewing!

ohh yes I certainly agree with Sally that I like to see a bit of the bum too. You can have then also a bit of smooth and slick skirts that don't poof so much. I also use lace undies wich give a nice border at the waist but that is only usefull when you don't have a complete dress. I love a revealing-but-not-too-much design. I find it always hard to use the basic skirtlayer because first I think it is too high up and seccond I don't lik the big bum and third I don't get the textures match very nicely (wich is of course a lack of my side ) In that case i use the basicpants layer wich you can adjust at the waist and you can make it a long on so you don't see hips or upperlegs come through. Have fun, *AE*

I would recommend using Ged Larsen's LoopRez skirt tool. It greatly simplifies the build process on prim skirts and allows you to do the important part which is to come up with the design parameters and texture. A nice feature in this tool (as a previous post mentioned), is the ability to flare the back of the skirt more to accomodate the bum. Depending on the skirt I build I have used 5 to 15 deg more flare. If you haven't got one already it can be purchased here: http://www.slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=181072
