Hi, me again, as no one answered my last Q I have abandoned jackets and such for the moment. Wanted to do a halter top for the ladies so I took the t shirt template done by Robin Sojourner (bless her!) and tried to "Free Transform" the neck collar to stretch it into a scoop neck, and for some odd reason the collar itself got a *lot* thicker at the bottom of the scoop than origional. Why, and how do I keep the silly thing the same thickness? Thanks!

it's hard to know if you mean "it got bigger" on the final model (on the avatar) or in photoshop.

If you are trying to fit something it's best to either "liquify" the shape, because free transform can create distortions.

Can you post before and after pics?

Opps! Sowwie! In Photoshop, wouldn't let anything like this go onto SL. Here, the requested pictures...

P.S. A fast search of PS' help file turned up 0 results for 'liquify' ... :P

Sorry Rose, your previous question was replied to by Chosen Few. Chosen asked for more information from you. You never replied back with the information. How was Chosen or any one else going to answer the question without the needed information, only you could provide?

I am not trying to be persnickety, it just irritated me that you would say no one answered your previous question. Chosen Few takes spends lot of time answering in great detail the questions posted to this forum.

Now, as to your current question. If you dragged the bottom handle downward to lower the neckline and didn’t drag one of the corner handles you will get distortion. I just opened her tee shirt and played with the collar. I got the same distortion you got.

I played with the skew, distort and scale features and they all distorted the neck. If it were me, I would handle it in one or two ways.

1. I would draw the collar/neck using paths or selections. Paths would be my first choice, you can easily bend or contour the path to fit your neck line.

2. Use the current collar and drag it down or scale it to where you like its position. The erase parts of it to get the look you want. Again a path or selection will help. With both of them you can make sure you erase only what you want to erase.

There is a third option, which is beyond my Photoshop knowledge base. Smart objects.

I hope this helps you.

Someone did? <goes hunting though Eudora for the Reply from SL Forum email message>

Ah, ok, so erase the bits that I don't want? Ok... I'll hunt down info on paths and use that. Thank you!

I don't know what version of photoshop you're using, but CS has something called Warp. it will lay out a grid across a selection and allow you to manuever bits of it however you wish.
