I'm doing the alpha channels right, I'm saving in targa, but I still cannot get a transparent clothing layer. But I'm putting the opacity up to 100% before merging. Is that the trouble?

Are you using Photoshop? I know there's an issue with PS and alpha TGAs.

32 bits required for Transparencies
03-02-2006 04:08
Make sure you have checked the 32 bit format.. 24 bits don't contain the info needed for transparencies.
Be sure you can see the little grey and white squares when you try to upload. If you dont see them you haven't saved the file correctly. _____________________

I'd need a little more information to diagnose your problem, but here are some common causes:
1. If you're usinf Photoshop 7.0, update for free to version 7.0.1 immediately. More information on this is in the transparency guide at the top of the forum. 2. Make sure you save all images that require transparency as 32-bit TGA. Save all files that do not have transparency as 24-bit TGA. Again, more information on this is in the guide. As for your comment about "tunring up the opacity before merging", I'm not sure what you mean by that. You could be talking about any of a hundred differnt things. Exactly what steps are you following? _____________________

I'm not sure either what you mean by the opacity, but if you're using PSP, make sure you're saving the transparency as an alpha and not just a mask - Masks just become white when you save the file as a TGA, I think they're something internal to PSP only...
To save your mask as an alpha, just go to the Masks manu then 'Save to Alpha Channel'. Also be sure to delete your mask before you save it as a TGA, or you'll get white halos because the mask itself will still turn into a flat white when you save it, even though there's an alpha transparency over the top of it. |

Hi!
I noticed that you said "Alpha Channels." Does this mean that you have more than one? That could be the problem, right there. There can be only one. If that's not it, please at least tell us what program you are using. Screen shots would help, too. _____________________

I fixed the problem by making the image more transparant.
So now it works. |
