I've figured out how to make convincing faux reflections on spheres to give them a realistic appearance using equirectangular panoramas and a few tricks I've worked out. The problem is, most of the interior type panoramas I can use don't look a lot like SL so I want to try and roll my own while online. Can anyone recommend any techniques I can use to create them? I was wondering if could use something like a mirrored ball that I can stitch together using some software I picked up.

How about simply spinning your SL camera in place, taking a bunch of snapshots at regular (or even irregular) intervals, and then stitching them all together with Photomerge in Photoshop?

Ha. I guess I should have googled first; Torley had done a panorama tutorial back in 2007:
