can anyone PLEASE tell me how to place different textures or different colours of blank textures on different surfaces of the same prim ??? . I've tried clicking on the surface i want to change and then selecting the texture / color but it applies to the whole prim , not just the one surface ..... plus when trying this on likked prims , i've tried ticking "edit linked parts" and then shift clicking the surface i want to change but again it seems to apply to the whole object . This is driving me insane lol , so any help would be great ty :)))))))

Just click select texture in the edit menu then click the surface you want to texture, et voila

don't just hit the tab that says texture. Hit the one that says select texture THEN click the texture

Related Question:

I've figured out how to place a different texture on different faces of an objct, but, is there a way to scale the textures on each face independantly?

Same thing.

With the 'select texture' radio button checked, click a face on a prim. if every face of every prim in a linked object is highlighted, sometimes you have to 'clear' the selection by selecting something else (ground, etc...) and then reselect just the face you wanted.

Only the one face of that prim should have the white highlights and crosshairs visible.

Go to the textures tab in the edit menue and make your changes to the texture properties of only that face.

Be sure to click "Position" again when you are finished with indivdual surfaces.

I've forgotten to do that then wondered why I couldn't move the prim or do other stuff.

Also, I just discovered that in a multi-prim object, I can select to edit individual prims, then select editing individual textures .. and /then/ use CTRL-click to select individual surfaces on different prims to apply the same texture to.

Did that make sense? Select object to edit, then select individual prim in it, then select individual face of that object .. then select single faces of other prims in the set.

Was very cool to discover that. Might be old hat for some, but was a great "AHAH!" for me! :)
