Advise Needed On Textures Taken By Photo And Uploaded for Sale Or Use.

This as far as Im aware is new to me.

2 residents of SL were found over 9 mths ago to be distributing a number of other SL residents textures.
AFter much arguing and banning from their store, they made a public announcment and left a primmed notecard giver outside their store saying they were sorry to all texture vendors whos textures they had been distributing.

6 weeks later I went back to their store and found a few of mine still remained and a couple of other ppls. They said it was an oversight and would remove.

Both people were banned from my store.

Couple of months later I got an IM from one of them along the lines of " if you let us back in your store. ill tell you were a bunch of your textures are being sold "
I replied I dont give into bribes and that a decent person would of told me anyway had they seen the error of their ways and the both remained banned.

Ive recently moved to another island and didnt update the ban list as strictly as I had as I assumed after all this time and the fact they owned a sim and still ran a small texture store AND were making clothes now etc, surely they had 'moved on' from that kinda game.

logged in this morning to 1 IM from one of the 2 people
It simply said

" ' sticks tounge out at LillyBeth ' .......rasberries"

I Imd her back to ask what the joke was but she was offline.

Then one of my neighbours said there was a male taking photos in the store she confronted him and asked what he was doing he replied " swiping some pics" she pointed out it was illegal and imoral and he told her to get lost.

I asked who it was , and it was the partner of the girl who had IMd me blowing rasberries.

I checked my visitor list and sure enough he showed up on it as a visitor.

So the plan I assume is to make textures from the pictures he took and uploade them as their own.

Im 90% convinced I still can get LL to remove as I have all the originals and the PSD layers etc and from what LL say , they go off teh date the textures were uploaded anyway so clearly mine being much older than theirs will prove they were mine initialy. Plus the quality wont be the same no matter how high the resolution is on the pic.

The sad thing is I removed these 2 people from the list, thought enough time had elapsed etc and to do somthing so low and THEN laugh about it?

Im sickened by this level of low morality...its God its just so cheap!

Does anyone know if these 2 low lifes have a leg to stand on if I find my work in their store or on their builds as they didnt buy anything so if I see a build with my textures on them I know they have come from my store via the photos plus I have a witness too who kept a copy of the convo between her and the photo taker.

SO sick of this...its by far the lowest form of theft Ive encountered

I don't see where they have any right to your textures? Some people have no sense of right and wrong. Have you spoken to a Linden about this?

Linden Labs should feel a sense of lost too. After all, if someone sells lower quality textures it reflects on the quality of SL. A new person may not realize that higher quality textures are available than the ripoffs they purchased. Granted, it may not drive someone away but it does cheapen, the SL experience and this should be a concern for every Linden.

Too bad they don’t have “convicted texture theft” listed in their profile.

I know this doesn’t really help much Lilly. I just feel badly for you and wanted to offer my support.

Lilly - It sounds like they're doing most of that just to upset you. The method of theft reflects thier lack of sophistication or seriousness, and the cookie trail - well that's obvious.

Ban them and mute them if you must, but most importantly, ignore thier efforts to piss you off.

yes your right...either not the sharpest tools in the box by 'announcing it' or just doing it to annoy me.

I did get a reply after I has asked 'why?! your better than that! ' and that was

" you got me banned from most of the texture stores in SL "

( yes me..all me nothing do do with her/him or anything they did...apparently I have THAT much power in sl that I can dictate who can and cannot go into other peoples stores '

I do have a group that other SL artists can join and if and when we find people selling other ppls work we send a LM to the land if theyre a member of the group. Its not some Gossip column. Just a way t protect ourselves.

That was mentioned...he/she felt I was using this group with all of 5 members lol to control SL and make their lives a misery.

She/he said " Jesus Christ! I think this should end!" ( Odd way to display that desire by laughing poking tounges out and taking pictures of my textures for God only knows what use )


Its always the same with these type..I mean we all make errors...im no saint but its how we 'learn' by them that shapes us as ppl.

If we always blame the world and its population for things we do that are wrong then we never learn from our errors and grow from that.

All I wanted was some sign that I could relax and let these ppl back in if they wanted to.
But instead they do that and THEN demand ' It should end!'

Bah ! theyre muted and banned Perminently and i havent IMd anyone despite what they think ...like the whole of SL revolves around them and ppl actually give a S**t! lol
