It seems somehow my photoshop brightness got changed, all images appear darker than they actualy are now, an example is, when I hit Prnt Scrn, the grey/gray of windows appears to be slightly brown (I'm sure you've seen that before). I know its not a problem with my monitor because images appear fine out of photoshop in other image applications, but when loaded into photoshop they go darker. I looked and looked but couldn't find anything to adjust the default brightness of it, anyone know how to fix this? As I mentioned before I'm using Photoshop 7.0, and this seems to have just happened on its own. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

my settings
RGB setting is : sRBB IEC61966-21 CMYK : U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2 Gray : Gray Gamma 2.2 Spot : Dot Gain 20%

first, backup your brushes, texturizer textures, and filters. then, completely uninstall PS7 deleting any extraneous files left over so you have no photoshop files at all. Then do a completely clean install and: go here: http://epaperpress.com/monitorcal/then go here: http://www.computer-darkroom.com/ps7-colour/ps7_1.htmto make sure all of your monitor calibration and PS color settings and monitor settings set up. Then finally restore your brushes, filters and etc. That should clear it up. PS 7 seems exceptionally buggy for adobe products. I have had to do reinstalls many times... *shrugs* peace, -Spider

I unstalled, then did a search for files for photoshop and adobe files, deleted what I thought would be relevant, but yet after reinstalling it, it still does the same thing, and my preferences are saved, any idea what to do? What to delete so it stops saving preferences?

Well, good news is, I fixed it, bad news is, I'm a moron How I fixed it: Under color settings for RGB I switched from sRGB(longnumbersandcrap) to Monitor RGB - Samsung ICM Profile. This fixed it and colors now appear as they should. What I learned: Always play around with options before deleting things a bunch of times and aggrivating yourself. Also what I learned: Where Photoshops preferences are stored, heres the google search I did for it which returned the top two links which were very helpfull (the second one telling the file path to the files, which was more helpfull): http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=deleting+photoshop+preferencesSo... if anyone else has this problem, first play around with your RGB values and such, if that doesn't work, then delete the preferences files. Thank you Spider and Davo for trying to help Now to go back and reinstall all the adobe stuff I deleted, hehe.
