Hi everyone! Another build and another (maybe simple) Question for you. I am making a fire bowl and am really interested in the flames that (for instance) are seen a lot at lost gardens of apollo....especially the big fire bowls in the meditation building there. Also can be seen on top of the totem poles at tiki-modern prefabs. Any suggestions as to where one may be able to find something along these lines? Thanks again! Furry

There used to be a Linden Campfire with flames in inventory.

Look for the Particle Laboratory in Search. They have loads of free scripts, tutorials, and examples to help you learn how to build effects like these. Fun place.

Found the perfect flames for my project through slexchange.....seems that it is easier just to search there as the search inworld is dreadful. Again thank you all for the posts, it is much appreciated! Furry

That's why I pointed you straight to the Particle Laboratory. It's VERY easy to find, even with in world Search. Everything there is free and you'll learn how to make your own particle effects instead of being stuck with what someone else makes.

Rolig, thanks for the tip about “the particle lab”. I went there yesterday for the first time and learned a lot. I loaded up with their info cards and free templates and was able to go home and build my first particle fountain. The templates and scripts are well commented and make it easy to understand how the parameters work.
What other in-work learning places would you recommend? I’m aware of the “Ivory Tower” and looked through the stickys but was unable to find a list of good places to visit.

Hmmm..... I don't maintain a list, but off the top of my head, I'd suggest visiting Robin Wood's sim http://slurl.com/secondlife/Livingtree/127/99/25 for a great collection of her tutorials, templates, and other things related to designing clothes. Her stuff is amazing, and is applicable to many things besides clothing too. Also, check out Natalia Zelmanov's store at http://slurl.com/secondlife/West%20Sunset/160/50/22. She has a good section in the shop with freebie gadgets, templates, and whatever, all of which are described on her blog ( http://www.mermaiddiaries.com/2006/11/build.html -- another good sorce of information. Then, take a look in Search, under the Events tab, for classes (category "education" . There are wonderful free classes offered in world every day. You can learn a lot by taking a few. I'm sure other people can chime in with their own favorites, but this is what occurs to me quickly.
