another noob question here, but I was just wondering how I can add different textures to the various sides of a shape?
for instance... to make a mailbox, I would have a texture of the front, back, sides, top, and bottom, then apply them appropriately to the respective sides of a cube prim... I have not found a way to do this.
Any help?

On the editor window there's a radio button called "Select Texture". When it's on, you can select individual faces of objects and texture them independantly from eachother. Turn it on and click "More" to show whole editor window. Go to the Texture tab. Now click on whatever face(s) you want to affect so select it, and then use the texture picker on the editor to assign textures and texture properties.

Also, you can always drag a texture from inventory directly onto a face.

Don't be sorry for a newbie post.
If anyone wants to answer, they will..
If they don't care to answer a newb post, they won't.

If they are jerks and hassle you for being a newb, space 'em...
there's really no cause for abusing the newbs.
