I'm trying to model facial attachments, and as anyone who has tried doing this right over their face knows, your avatar constantly sways and moves, even if you have him/her on a pedistal with a locked animation.

I just want to know if there is ANY way to get the avatar to hold the hell still, and not move one pixel? It would make making attachments suddenly so much easier.

If a Linden is watching, how about making the avator stop swaying when in edit mode?

Ummmm how do you mean sway.... freeze cubes work to stop you from moving...but eyes still blink and move with the mouse and camera..other than that there shouldn't be a problem.

Posing Stand

Tipsy's right... the freeze cubes work great. We've taken one and turned it into a small platform so we can place prim jewelry (if you've seen Valdimir's work, you'll understand - even with a posing stand it can be difficult).

Lots of people have them and they are usually free but if you don't find one, look me up and I'll send you one.

I've also seen an animation that is a standing "appearance mode" stance. Haven't tried that one yet, but if you still find the stand difficult to use, you might check that option.

I have a stand that when you 'sit' on it it locks you into an appearance mode stance, and keeps you from turning towards the mouse or moving your head. However I notice that no matter what animation you or a script has playing on your avatar, the model will slowly and randomly sway from side to side, front to back slightly to mimic natural body shifts since nobody stands pixel perfectly still.

The problem is that when trying to create objects and align them to the head the head is constantly moving, overlapping and then swaying completely away from an earring for example. I know that once you attach the object and then edit its position the av becomes completely locked, but since it is impossible to edit anything but linked object position while it is attached you have to deal with a swaying head if you want to use it as a reference.

It's possible to make prims the size and shape of your head, cheekbones, nose, ears etc and then use this template to model parts off of, but I want to use the real deal, my head, to model from since I'm trying to design a dragon head using the avatar's head as part of its design, rather than covering the entire thing up as other radical av's do.

Maybe I'm over explaining a problem that you really do have a solution for, I'll look you up when the grid comes back up for a freeze cube.

For those watching this thread, I got the stand that Etain Callahan mentioned and it was the same type as the one I have, just puts you in a still pose, but the game itself makes the models sway, it's not a part of any animations.
