Could anyone PLEASE instruct me on how to make these.
I thought it was at simple as making the shirt, making a tear using a drawing tool and the magic wand to cut it out, but ingame the tears show up white, i want to be able to see my skin through them.

Some graphics programs leave a white 'aura' around alpha areas. If the alpha tear you've made is small, the alpha area could be filled with this aura. One way to check is to zoom in on the area and use an eraser tool to go over the area.

I use GIMP instead of PS or PSP, so I don't get this problem, so I'm not sure how those who use the other problems get rid of it.

The white edges of alpha areas are caused by the background color blending into the edges. In PS you just create everything above the background layer and then turn off visibility of the bottom later before saving as a 32 bit TGA. That prevents the background color from contaminating the edge color when the layers are flattened on save.

As a follow on to Chips info about PS in Paint Shop Pro Turn off all layers except the Article that you want before making the Alpha Channel and saving the Alpha channel to file then turn on a layer that has the color of the garment around the edge area that the tear is and save the entire file to a .tga

#1 turn off addtional layers
#2 save Alpha (Mask) layer to File
#3 turn on a colored layer around the outline of the tear
#4 then save entire file as 32 bit .tga

Hope this helps,

That's called Dithering... and some programs allow you to shut it off while editing or saving.

This is true Marker however working on 512 pixels tends to lead to a "Jagged" edge if you do not use this option. With "Dithering" in place and the appropriate background color applied to an additional layer prior to saving as a .tga that causes the "Dithering" to be a solid line vs. a Jagged Edge.

However, if the background coloring is not used you will get white halo's as when saving a .tga file it will assume the base background to be white and thus the dithered sections blend the white in with the primary color of the clothing article.
