Texture Trouble

Hi I am so perplexed by this. I made my first prim skirt. I linked it together and tried it on. Now to texture it. I drop it to the ground and apply a texture thinking it should texture all of it. Well it does most of it except the very edges of each panel of my skirt. So I linked four squares together and tried to texture those. Everything textured well. So why would the prim skirt be any different? Is there a setting I am missing? I gave a copy of the prim skirt to my partner and she can texture the whole thing. We compared techniques and settings and they all seem to be the same. I am thinking its one setting or step throwing me off. Thank you for any help

Hiya Jack!

Congrats on your first prim skirt!

I am mystified by what you have described. I have never experienced that...and I do a lot of prim skirts and change the textures often when trying out new looks/textures.

Have you tried this with another skirt? Perhaps if you texture the panels one by one?

Hope you figure it out. Sounds odd indeed.

Hi Jack, well done on the skirt!

The only thing i can think of is what I experience every now and then.

If i go to change the texture of a skirt and I click on one or two different textures, because of SL some of the panels dont change to the second or third texture, or sometimes I end up with 3 different textures flickering back and forth. Eventually it rights itself if i go back into the texture window and click only on the texture that I want on it right then, rather than trying different ones.

Go back in and try it, clicking on only the texture you want. See if it was just a hiccup at the time.

Or try the different panels like Arikinui says.

You can also use "Select Texture" option to change the bits of the skirt that didnt change.

Good luck! I hope it was just a one-off glitch for you :)

Thank you for your advice but I have analyzed it more. The side that is not being textured for each panel of the prim dress is the side that is formed when you cut the panels. For instance my friend and I both made a cube then cut it. This shows part of the inside of the cube. When she textures the cube it textures all of it. When I texture it part of the inside doesn't get textured. I have tried it with an alt account too and I get the same result. I have also tried it on another computer and same result. So it can't be a glitch. It has to be one step off or a setting somewhere. Any help is appreciated. I have included a picture.

:( I've not come across that, sorry.

Until someone firgures it out though, you could always use the "Select texture" option to texture the wood side.

Its very strange

Usually when you put a texture on something it will texture the whole thing.

Unless, you have "Select texture" as the one with the dot, and its only texturing that bit.

Still though, it wouldn't texture some of the other sides... so I really don't know.

Sorry :(

Have you tried doing it in another Sim?

I'm with Urah on this...never seen that happen. If the option for the select texture by face isn't selected then the whole prim is textured...or even if it flickers between textures it happens on different sides, not just the cut face.

That is so odd.

Sorry I cannot offer any assistance!

Are you dragging the texture from inventory to the prim? That will not texture the whole thing.

To texture the whole prim, choose the texture within the Editing window.

Another thing you might try is to texture the prim before cutting, see if that solves the problem.
