Animated alpha channels

Hi everyone,

I came to this thread to find a tool for creating animated JPEG2000's, but now I read that I wouldn't be able to upload them anyway.

So, if I want to make an animated image with an alpha channel, say of water, fire or smoke, is there any way I can do this and upload it? I know I could do a gif, but they just have a single transparent color, not a real alpha channel.

Thanks for any help,

Teddy Qinan :)

Create a texture from tiled "frames," with or without an alpha channel, apply that texture to a prim, and animate it using llSetTextureAnim.

Oh, that's nice! I'd been thinking of having a bunch of textures and swapping between them, but your idea is much better. Thanks. :)

Edit: Oh, cept this won't work for a particle texture will it. (smoke)

Ah, for particles... that's another matter. Only if they decide to add a set of texture animation flags to llParticleSystem.
