I'm wanting to make a painting, but am not quite sure about the frame. Should I use prims to create the ornate frame, or just a texture of an ornate frame? Any advice would be welcome. Thanks

Hi Jason, You can do this with one prim via cut and hollow and texture the differing faces. IM me in world if you'd like me to demonstrate for you.

I'd count on a 2 prim object for a framed painting- the frame that Lector mentions plus the picture itself. You can do it all in one prim too, if you like. Depends on tastes

Also, Drift Monde offers some alpha textures of nice frames. You can just put them on a square and size it right over your painting, so it would be 2 prims total. Check out her stuff at Textures Unlimited.

hello...heads up for the struggling texture store I'm currently uploading lots of new Frames ornate, wood, black iron, silver etc on alpha formats ( means the middle is see through so you can texture one flat prim without having to hollow it out. Textures R Us listed under stores again...I will offer you any help you need if you want any? Im currently searching these forums for some kind of texture tutorial I can leave in the store for ppl to pick up NB: this is my very first 'marketing' post in this forum....never said it would be my last though!

From: LillyBeth Filth NB: this is my very first 'marketing' post in this forum....never said it would be my last though! lol... acknowledging that you are making a marketing post doesn't make it appropriate... this is why we have a classifieds sections. But a first post is forgivable On frames: If you need to save prims, you can put a simple "frame" around your image by shrinking the "top size" of a cube, putting your frame texture on the angled sides, and putting your image on the main side. When you go into the Edit window, you will see the "Edit textures" radio button above the tabs. Select that, and you will be able to select and edit your textures one at a time including how they are offset, tiled, shiny, etc (can also select multiple holding down shift key).

Have you ever done a Texture Tutorial or class? Or do you know of a texture tutorial I can buy or load into SL for customers to take? Even I dont understand the 'multiple' option or the shininess or bumpy options...dont seem to make much difference to me? So I would sure appreciate it to educate myself...i LOVE textures...to me textures are what pull an item together...complete it...until u add color depth & shadow...its just a lump of primmed wood. (not to detract from the skill of builders here )
