Hi all.
Reading allot on this forum, and really apriciate the info.

Saying this, i really looked but never could find the answer here.

So here's my quistion.

Made some nice buildings including triangle shapes, from boxes
and Pyramids.

I like to make houses in the tradisional way,
with a pointed roof (triangle).

But i always strugle to get the texture right.
It seems always lean to 1 side.
At aprox 22/23 degrees.

Is there a fix??

Here is a picture what i ment.
https://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=images&ItemID=1521005&ImageID=2326512

Look at the triangle above the door way , and window wall.

NOTE: this is not comurcial, i just point out a fault in my own buildin.

Much regards Melissa

Ty Osprey.

Tried Planar before, but now it works( some weird reson).
But the count is all whrong, at normal i use per meter 1 pic.

Ill go with an easyar texture first to practise,
On this wall i used, Bumpines/stucwork.

Thanks for the fast answer.

Melissa

PS
Just checked.
Repeats/meter is out of order?
It says repeat every 0.1M
Other textures are all, Repeats 1.00

Recalculated the repeat but stil looks funny.

When switcing from Default to Planar texturing, if the original texture was 512 x 512, you ned to set your repeats to about 0.2 in each direction to get the same texture size that a repeat of 1 in each direction gave you before. If the texture is only 256 x 256, you need a planar repeat of 0.4 in each direction to get similar to a repeat of 1 on Default.

Planar is the ONLY rational way to rexture a flat, tapered surface in SL. Any reasonable amount of taper (and pyrimids and prisms all have 100% tyaper in at least one axis) will distort a default texture.

Planar can NOT be used on surfaces that are rounded, like the curved surfaces of a sphere or cylnder, or the surface of a circular hollow in a prim.

Hi Ceera,

Repeat/meter i cant use now.

Do i have to switch first the repeat,
before i go to planar, or is it a bug?

Just tried with a 64x64 texture if got.
Works perfect!!

But i use Bumpiness/Stucwork .

Just dont get it right!

I have 1 blok of 0.3x7.0x4.0
1 triangle of 0.3x10.0x2.0

Triangel is 3M ofset to the blok.
(not really imporant, but just info).

On the trail build is my texture ,
Horizontal 7x
Vert- 4x
Rotation 0
Repeats 1

Triangel build (trail version)
Mapping Planar
Horizontal 1
Vertical 1
Rotation 0
Repeats 0.1, cant chaince that one?????

Like i sad on the 64x64(trail) it looks great.
But with Bumpiness/Stucwork, stil looks funny,
or all wrong??

Btw what are those size of the Bumpiness pics??

Melissa

Not repeats per meter. The Horizontal Repeat and Vertical Repeat values. The same ones you use with Default texturing to set a texture to repeat twice Horizontally and only show once vertically.

Repeats per meter is a different thing, and honestly, never has worked right as far as I can tell.

The bump mapping feature in SL isn't worth much either, since you can only use a very limited number of pre-assigned bump maps, and can't create your own, matched to your textures.
