Pants glitch

I am new to making clothes. I made an outfit with Chip Midnight's templates that came out pretty well except for a glitch on the pants. Just above the front waistband a bit to the right of the fly there is a small white stripe that should not be there. I checked and checked the edge and the alpha channel in photoshop which is clean. Then I tried putting this texture on a prim cube. The white stripe is NOT on the cube. Only on the pants. I tried it with another skin, same problem. I tried stretching the waistband up a little, recreated the alpha channel. Same problem. Is there any way I make it go away? Out, out damn spot.

I'm far from an expert, but do you have a layer of black as the first layer under the clothing layers?

If the alpha is clean, then you'll need advice from an expert!

Best,

ps: well done on the design!

Hi Sylvia :) You seem to have an imperceptible white halo around the top of the pants and the bottom of the jacket (which look great btw). This is often caused by white backgrounds in clothing files that manage to "bleed" into the clothing. Perhaps getting rid of that would also get rid of that strange little solitary stripe you're referring to. The way to do that is by changing the background in your file to a color that matches the overall color of your garment. Robin Sojourner has a good tutorial on how to create alpha channels and eliminate these pesky white halos. You can find it here (click on the Alpha Map Transparency link on your left). Hope this helps. Good luck.

FiXED hooray. Thanks emily for your helpful post. The white edges on waistband and jacket are actually an intentional part of the design. All the edges and seams in this outfit fade to white like worn denim as you can see around the fly. But your post gave me the idea to make the background of the photoshop file a flesh color to be invisible against the skin and it worked.

one problem with your solution

Having a flesh color, is only going to work with relative skin types. if someone with lighter or darker skin color wears this, you may still have a glitch.

Just a thought.

Cheers.
