I started designing clothing and have been learning a lot thanks to you all. I am however stuck on a texture I just can't quite figure out.

The texture is the shimmery clothing texture I see a lot of in SL. I've searched for tutorials and tips but came up empty handed. Below is a link to a picture of what I'm talking about. Any tips, tricks or advice is great appreciated. Thanks :-)

Here we have an arrangement of light and dark pixels that gives the illusion of light on a shiny fabric. There is no trick, unless the creator used an application to do a texture bake which is one way to do this but not a requirement.

I suggest you find some photos of real life dresses that are similar to what you want and really look closely at where the highlights fall. Then do your best to duplicate that in your paint program. Most of us would not be able to describe where the highlights should fall, but when painted convincingly, the brain interprets as shiny material. Keep tinkering until your brain sees shiny material and others will too.
