Hi!

I've been working on some fabric bases for creating avatar clothing. Over the last few months I've ended up with way too many of these, so I thought I would start sharing them. Feel free to sell any creations you make that incorporate these fabrics.

Fabrics sets for avatar clothing.

Each zip file contains four images: an upper body map, lower body map, skirt map, and a tiling fabric sample for prim pieces. The body maps are 1024x1024 to better fit into Chip Midnight's fabulous templates. You will need to resize your final image to no bigger than 512x512 before you upload it into SL.

If you are new to garment creation, check out this tutorial to get started.

Hope you find these useful. I do plan on adding more fabrics in the future, and am open to suggestions if anyone has ideas for good additions to this collection.

Thanks!
Nephi

ps- for the curious, these images were created with Lightwave and Photoshop, using a combination of tiling fabric swatches and procedural textures, lit by global illumination and rendered with radiosity to capture the body shading.

tyvm :) :)

I definitely want to expand this into a better library- I've got over 100 of these sets so far. I'm having a hard time deciding which of those would be most useful. Again, if anyone has any suggestions as to materials or colors to add, it would be greatly apreciated.

thanks again!

These make a wonderful reference for people to see how pattern scale differs between upper and lower body.

how about any and all

Thats my goal! :) but i am curious to see if there is any demand for certain fabrics, so I can better focus future efforts.
i do plan on putting as many of them up there as i have time to post. so the list should start growing soon. :)

I'll post back here as I update the page. :D

Hmmm... I wonder if it would be possible to create a dark map, displacement map, and mask layer combo that can take any solid texture and shade/distort/crop it to get something that, while I'm sure not as good as what Neph as made here(!), could be a more general starting point for new clothing makers.

Thanks Neph!!!

Yeah, I'm with Ghoti... My problem so far has been camouflage. :o I can never get it to line up right...

And thank you so much for this. It will make my life a great deal easier.

Thank Nephaline for thwarting my carefully constructed cynicism of human nature. Now I have to squash my idealism *again* ;)

What a nice act (and nice textures)!

Wonderful idea, excellent execution. Just one request -- could you zip the ones listed in the thread? I see only rar files. =/

p.s.: neutrals and earth tones.... taupe, beige, cream, green, brown, maize or ochre, sienna, mauve, and a good crimson. :)

These are great. I've been trying to bake textures but it keeps going wrong :(

I've used prism and sparkly white to make these: /invalid_link.html

The shading, particularly on the bust, makes a much more flattering outfit :)

Thank you so much!
